Shopping business hours
Business hours in Finland vary depending on the business in question. Shop opening hours were deregulated in 2016 and shop owners set their opening and closing hours freely.
Department stores and many chain stores are typically open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 6 or 7 p.m. on Saturdays, and from 12 noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
Many stores close at 6 p.m. days before public holidays.
On Finnish public holidays, almost all stores are closed. However, some food stores located under Helsinki Central Railway Station and at the Kamppi bus terminal will keep their doors open.
Markets
Open-air markets begin trading at 6.30 a.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, and close at 3 p.m.
The Helsinki Market Square stays open until 4 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, and it is also open on summer Sundays.
Postal services
For postal services look for Posti, which is the name of the Finnish postal service.
Post offices usually open at either 8 or 9 am and close between 6 to 9 pm on weekdays, depending on the location.
There is also a 24-hour Posti located in Jätkäsaari, Helsinki.
